I CHOSE SHEAT PUBLIC SCHOOL BECAUSE IT'S FOCUSES ON OVERALL DEVELOPMENT OF MY KIDS - Says Mrs. Gupta

Mrs. Jyoti Gupta is a homemaker. Her husband Mr. Lavkush Gupta works with Ramkrishan Mission Their daughters Ms Trisha Guptais a Kindergarten and Astha Gupta, Class 5 student at SHEAT Public School, Varanasi. In an interview, Mrs. Jyoti Gupta speaks about its rich legacy in education, the development of her daughter’s reading habits and the stupendous efforts of the teachers.

1 – Why did you choose SHEAT Public School ahead of other schools for your child’s admission?

We wanted a basic school that is attached to one’s roots. A school that would make our child humble, kind and compassionate. Basically, a well-established school that imparts moral values to its students.

We wanted to give our child the same upbringing and environment that we had received as students. And our search ends with SHEAT Public School, as it is one of the best schools in Varanasi, founded on the philosophy of ‘Shiksha, Suraksha, Suvidha’. I think every parent should look for such type of school for their children.

SHEAT Public School is rich in extra-curricular activities and has an extremely good infrastructure for all sorts of activities and sports such as swimming, skating, etc., and that is one of the key things which we were looking for.

2 – What is the best thing about the school?

I think the best thing is that the school did not let the students face much impact despite the pandemic. Even in the online mode, the school celebrated all events such as the Grandparents’ & children’s Day, Diwali celebration among others. They never let the students feel that they are missing out on anything due to the restriction of being at home.

“The best thing I’ve liked about the school is its solid infrastructure and brilliant teachers. They encourage students to think outside the box and give special attention to extracurricular activities, especially sports. Also, there is constant interaction between parents and teachers.”

Please tell us a bit about one child and take us through her progress at Sheat Public school?

I would talk about Trisha, she loves reading. She is five but she can read books of classes which are 1 or 2 years ahead of her own. In my view, SHEAT Public School is one of the best schools in Varanasi.

Trisha joined the school in Nursery. Their Nursery curriculum in English was very well planned. That developed her reading habit. By the end of Nursery, she was a full reader. Actually, their Jolly Phonics curriculum worked out very well.

She likes to dance and hums to tunes she willfully makes. She has an on and off interest in painting and has a passion for story narration. She is performing well at school.

3 – Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

SHEAT Public School’s teachers put a lot of effort into nurturing their students. I am aware that in the online mode, the parents are not very satisfied but nevertheless, the teachers are so committed in the online mode, that one can only imagine how much and how well they teach in the offline class.

All the teachers make sure that the children are taking back something from their classes by asking questions while conducting recapitulations every week. They also try to come up with new ideas such as explaining a concept via storytelling or through some animated videos or hands-on activities which normally children are interested in. Plus, they focus on every child and try to identify their weak areas and then work on it by taking some extra classes while providing the same feedback to parents.

4 – Besides studies, what are some of the extra-curricular activities your child takes interest in at school?

My first daughter Astha Gupta is taking much interest in computer classes and learning the basics of computers. Yoga classes where the yoga teacher is energetic, engaging and spreads positive vibes to her students. Yoga has also been helpful for my child during the pandemic. Astha also enjoys music and dance classes and so she always tries to participate in various activities held in these classes.

5 – What is the best part about SHEAT Public School, Varanasi?

There are a couple of things which I like most about the school. First, What I like the most is a safe learning environment for the children which is of utmost importance for any frontrunner school. At SHEAT Public School, there is a total commitment towards making the school a safe place for students. The school aims at sustaining an environment whereby students can excel in scholastic activities, demonstrate superior learning, develop intellectual capacities and skills that prepare them for service to the society.
